Agency Profiles: Explanation

Agency profiles have been prepared to summarise how well each agency:

  • is using the Internet to provide ready access to information
  • aligns with the E-government Strategy in its use of the Internet and technology.

The profiles are listed alphabetically.

Each profile is divided into the following sections:

Internet and communications technology

This section outlines how individual agencies use the Internet and communications technology, to manage and provide information and services. It reports on how agencies are using the Internet and technology to provide information and services to the public, businesses, government agencies, and others.

The Internet and communications technology section includes brief details about improvements to internal information sharing using technology, and electronic information sharing with other agencies.

Ready access to information and services

The ready access section summarises the effectiveness of agencies' websites and metadata to provide ready access to information. Each profile discusses the strengths of agencies' websites and metadata as well as areas for future improvement.

Alignment with e-government goals

The alignment section summarises agencies alignment with the three outcomes of the E-government Strategy. Profiles are not limited to the June 2004 objectives of the Strategy, as in many instances these objectives are already being achieved. Where appropriate, examples of alignment with the Strategy objectives for 2007 and 2010 are included.

E-government initiatives

Each profile lists examples of each agency's current e-government initiatives. These can include website redevelopments, information systems strategy planning and implementation, sector initiatives, online services, and improvements to internal systems.
