Industry Leaders Networking Forum 08

The second Industry Leaders Networking Forum was held 14 February 2008.  It was an extremely successful event with a satisfaction rate of 100%.  Participant feedback indicated that it was an excellent opportunity for networking and covered very topical issues.  Participants commented that the speakers were excellent and that there was strong evidence of progress from last year's forum.

Key Messages

  • A major focus for 2008 for government is value for money- no more short term solutions for long term problems.
  • Our priority is providing access to services and citizens.
  • Government is investing in ICT to achieve broader goals.

A call to action

What Industry Leaders can do to help support us in our goals for 2008:

  • No more short term sales for long term relationships
  • Write an email/blog about the event, spread the key messages and encourage debate
  • Come along to the Identity Conference - 29-30 April 2008

Garth Biggs - Executive Director, The Higrowth Project

  • The context of the ICT skills shortage with some facts and figures that illustrated its severity
  • The reasons behind the shortage
  • What can and has been done to try and overcome these. 

The key messages were that this is an issue that will only get worse, it will affect everyone and we all need to get involved in both long and short term solutions if we are to overcome this problem.
