Working group
Archives New Zealand sponsors a working group under the E-government Interoperability Framework (e-GIF) which seeks communication and collaboration within government, with ICT vendors and with other governments. It will encourage widespread adoption of the principles and policies and develop standards and features in TC/DRM products that provide the disclosure and control needed by governments to comply with the principles and policies. It will also investigate the update, adoption and attitudes towards TC/DRM technologies within government.
The New Zealand government recognises that agencies will benefit from standards and guidance in applying the principles and policies in their particular technical context. It was felt that the most appropriate way to develop such standards and guidelines would be to re-convene the Working Group, with some minor adjustments to membership.
The purpose of the Working Group is to provide an expert sounding board for Archives New Zealand as custodian of the standards and guidelines. In this role it will:
- Manage changes to standards and guidelines
- Share information on TC/DRM implementations
- Advise on TC/DRM Standards & Guidelines promotion
- Advise on assessments of uptake of TC/DRM
- Monitor environment
The report on the uptake of TC/DRM in government is due in early 2009.
The Working Group was established in February 2008. The current Working Group contains members from across the New Zealand Government sector and includes experts in the field of technology and security.
