Whereas the e-government programme is concerned with taking the public sector online, the e-commerce programme, also driven by a strategy, is setting out to ensure New Zealand businesses, particularly smaller companies and companies in the regions, are developing their online capability and that the country's infrastructure supports the needs of the knowledge economy (see http://www.e-commerce.govt.nz).
